The per capita GDP of Singapore ranked one of the highest in the world as it is almost equivalent to the per capita GDP of the four largest West European countries. From the estimation of year 2005, the total labor force of Singapore falls roughly around the figure of 2.28 million where the majority of the workforces are found in the business and finance services (39%), followed by other areas (26%), manufacturing (18%), transportation and communication (11%) and lastly, the construction area (6%). In the country of Singapore, the majority of the economy income depends solely on exports produced from refining imported goods in a form of extended entrepot trade. In addition to trading, Singapore is also one of the largest commercial hubs in the region as besides having strong economic foundation, Singapore is also easily accessible from various other countries and for this reason, the country of Singapore is indeed an attractive investment opportunity for a lot of foreign investors. Aside from having Temasek Holdings, Singapore Government's investment companies led by Madam Ho Ching, Singapore also has attracted a lot of investment bank or consultancy powerhouse such as McKinsey, JP Morgan and as well as Goldman Sachs.

In the country of Singapore, most of the job opportunities which are offered within the country are white collar based jobs in various fields such as IT, business, finance and as well as engineering. In addition to having a strong workforce, Singapore attracted a lot of foreign expertise due to its open door policy where according to a conducted research, one in every four workers in Singapore are foreigners. In Singapore, all of the incomes are taxable only when the source of the income is from within Singapore or those that are derived from overseas but received in Singapore.

Although Singapore has suffered from an economy downturn in the earlier years, the country of Singapore has coped with the recession well and the economy of the country already went back on track. With the continue expanding within various areas of Singapore, there will be a lot of different job opportunities for white collar works, particularly during this time and age where human capital is highly valued at almost any part of the world.
