Singapore Airlines is based in the country of Singapore and it is known to be the second largest airlines by market capitalization, with Southwest Airlines of the United States being the largest in the world. Actually, Singapore Airlines is one of the leading and founding entities of the Singapore Airlines Group. However, the operations of the Malaysia – Singapore Airlines ceased at the year 1972 when political disputes between Malaysia and Singapore broke lose. Because of this dispute, the airline was then being divided into two separate independent entities which is the Malaysia Airlines and the Singapore Airlines. After the separation of Malaysia – Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines continues to grow rapidly across different areas, including the addition of new routes to different areas and the purchase of new fleets which could potentially accommodate more customers. Throughout the history of Singapore Airlines, there are less than five serious reported incidents including the hijack of a plane by 4 terrorist during the year 1991. Aside from such events, Singapore Airlines has remained to be one of the reputable airlines within the aviation industries.
