The history of the Nanyang Technological University can actually be tracked back to the year 1955 when the Nanyang University (the first Chinese-language University in the Southeast Asia) was first established using the donations by the peoples of Singapore. At the year 1991, the Nanyang Technological Institute took on the name of Nanyang Technological University and subsequently, a few other schools were formed, including School of Communication and Information, School of Biological Sciences, School of Computer Engineering and last but not least, School of Materials Engineering. After the renaming of the university, the Nanyang Technological University continues to develop and at the year 2003, the Research TechnoPlaza at the Nanyang Technological University was completed where the Research TechnoPlaza consists of four interdisciplinary research corridors and six research centres.

Being one of the world renowned universities in tertiary educations, particularly in technology and research, the Nanyang Technological Universities pride itself in the wide array of courses offered for both undergraduate and as well as graduate studies.
