Jetstar AirwaysAbout Jetstar Airways
For low cost carriers within the country of Singapore, there are quite a variety of different carriers for the passengers to chose from and some of these popular choices include Tiger Airways, SilkAir and last but not least, Jetstar where it is also sometimes known as Valuair. Valuair is actually a sister company with the well known Jetstar Asia airliners and it is the third low cost carrier to be launched in the country of Singapore at the year 2004 where Valuair is also based in the Singapore Changi Airport.
Although Valuair might have an early establishment, the airline is actually being founded under a different set of values, differentiating themselves from the conventional low cost no frills carriers. The reason for this to be part of the strategy of Valuair is partly due to the fact where Valuair has a rather late entry into the low cost carriers market and in order to penetrate the existing market, Valuair adopted a different strategy. The main shareholder within Valuair is the famous Australia based airlines, Qantas with a 49.9% stake in the airline. Other smaller shareholders include the investment arm for the country of Singapore, the Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (19%) and as well as two prominent Singaporean businessmen, Tony Chew (22%) and FF Wong (10%). Although Jetstar Asia and Valuair merged in the year 2005, both of these airlines still operate with their respective identities though most of the time, people to accept both of these airlines to be the same in a way. Both Jetstar and Valuair have a combined fleet of 7 Airbus A320-232 where 4 of which are under Jetstar Asia and 3 of which are under Valuair. The major distinction Valuair prides itself when compared to other low cost carriers is that, Valuair offers an assigned seats system and on top of that, Valuair also offers their passenger a free 20 kg luggage allowance where compared to other low cost carriers, Valuair can be said to be one of the few airlines that offer such services.
For the flight destinations of the Valuair airline, although the variety of the destinations are lesser when compared to other veteran budget airlines such as Tiger Airways, Valuair still offers some very competitive routes or destinations around the region. All of these different destinations include places such as Hong Kong, Taipei, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Yangon, Manila, Bangkok, Phuket, Bangalore, Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar and lastly, Singapore itself as the home base of Valuair.
Alike with many other low cost carriers within the region, Valuair operates an online booking system whereby prospective passengers can easily log on to the homepage of Valuair and from there, passengers can make the booking easily by selecting the departure and return date, the destinations and as well as the number of passengers.
